National Mutt Day 2022 – December 2 and July 31
If you have a dog or a dog lover, you know what we are talking about when we say National Mutt Day.
National Mixed Breed Dog Day is another name for this same day.
Dogs come in different forms and sizes, but one thing they all have in common is that they’re all adorable.
The fact is that no dog is superior to another, and mutts are no different. They are just as intelligent, sweet, and loving as any purebred dog.
When is the National Mutt Day 2022?
Every year, National Mutt Day is observed on December 2nd, & July 31. It is a day exclusive to celebrate all of the Mixed Breeds of Dogs that exist in the world.

History:
Famous Animal Welfare Advocate and Celebrity Pet Expert Colleen Paige first organized this day in 2005.
This day aimed to encourage people to stop judging dogs based on their appearance.
Paige wanted to change the perception of people towards mixed breeds and especially when it comes to dogs.
Interesting Facts about Mutts:
- More than 75% of the dogs in Shelter Homes are Mixed Breeds; therefore, it is best to get a Mutt if you want to have a dog.
- Formerly, mixed breeds were considered lower quality, but today, mix-breed dogs are some of the most popular types of dogs.
- They are unique because they tend to possess the best features of both parents.
- They’re also smart and have a lot of common sense.
- Mutts are adaptable and can survive different environments very well.
3 Famous Mutts:
The list of famous mutts is quite long, but I have chosen 3 of my favorites to share with you.
1. Benji:
Higgins was a mutt that starred in several movies, including the famous film “Benji.” He died at the age of 17 in 1975.
2. Spike
Spike is recognized all over the world. He was born in 1952 and became famous for being a part of the “Old Yeller” movie. Soon after, he became a star of his own.
3. Billy the Kid:
Billy the Kid is another famous dog. She is a stunning French Bulldog that belongs to Dolly Parton, one of the most famous country singers.
How to celebrate National Mutt Day:
Well, now that you are aware of this beautiful and fascinating day, let’s celebrate it by making your dog a part of this day. Here are some of my recommendations:
· Visit a Shelter:
Get a Mutt from a nearby animal shelter. This will be a fabulous way to commemorate this day.
· Take your Mutt out for a walk:
It’s a fabulous way to connect with them. They love to play, and it will make them very happy to be with you. Go on a beach or a picnic and enjoy the day with your favorite pup.
· Play with them:
It will make them feel loved and important. It’s a fantastic approach to boost their confidence. As has been noted, mutts are very intelligent, and they know a lot of tricks. You can teach them some cool tricks that would make them feel like a star in the house.
· Buy them a Gift:
If you want to give your dog something unique, then this day is the perfect opportunity. Choose something they will adore and cherish for the rest of their lives.
· Make a Treat:
If you have a mutt, then you must know that they love treats. So, prepare a special meal for them.
· Watch a Movie together:
You can enjoy your favorite film alongside your dog. This will make it feel like you’re on a date with your beloved friend.
· Use Social Media:

· American Pit Bull Terrier:
Pit Bull dogs are quite popular. They are regarded as clever and amiable, making them suitable for families.
The protective character of the American Pit Bull Terrier is well recognized. They are capable of becoming ferocious and lethal.
Nevertheless, when they are adequately trained, they are loyal, kind, and great with kids.
· Yorkipoo:
Yorkipoos are a mix between the Yorkshire Terrier and Poodle breeds. They are the perfect companion for people who like cute puppies.
They are playful, energetic, intelligent, and loyal. Yorkies are great family pets.
· Labradoodle:
Labradoodles are a mix between Labrador Retriever and Poodle breeds. When they mature, they become very gentle and submissive.
The Labradoodle is one of the best dogs you can ever have because they are intelligent, obedient, and very protective.
Well, these were some of the kinds of mutts. There are hundreds of other marvelous mutts which are in no way less than the ones mentioned above.

Furthermore, mixed breeds are some of the most loyal and loving animals, so they deserve a lot of love and care.
